Ian Gallacher is a Professor of Law with the Syracuse University College of Law. For 16 years, Professor Gallacher was also the Director of the College of Law’s Legal Communication and Research program until stepping down in Spring 2020 to create and run the Legal Writer’s Toolkit project. Professor Gallacher is the recipient of the 2018 Thomas F. Blackwell Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Legal Writing, a joint award by the Legal Writing Institute and the Association of Legal Writing Directors. He has published books about legal writing and the process of coming to law school, and has written numerous articles on various topics including legal writing and research, legal education, music and the law, tort litigation, and class actions.Before coming to Syracuse, Professor Gallacher taught for three years at his alma mater, the Washington College of Law at American University. After graduation from law school, Professor Gallacher clerked for two years at the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, before entering practice, where he was an associate and then partner at the Baltimore firm of Goodell, DeVries, Leech, and Dann, practicing principally in the areas of complex civil litigation and corporate defense. Professor Gallacher has undergraduate and graduate degrees in music, and was a conductor and freelance viola player before coming to law school. |
Claudia Dobbins |
Claudia Dobbins is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Science and Technology and a member of the Family Law Society. Claudia is a Registered Nurse with certification in Pediatric Critical Care. Prior to attending Law School, Claudia worked as a registered nurse in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, from 2016-2019. She also worked in the Adult Medical Intensive Care Unit at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY, from 2015-2016. Claudia graduated from Misericordia University in Dallas, PA, in 2015 with a Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing. |
